Driving discovery through collaboration

We work alongside global OEMs and research institutions to bring ambitious ideas to life, providing the technical capabilities and manufacturing excellence needed to make theoretical innovation a practical reality.

Case Study: Supporting the SKA-Low Telescope in Australia

One of our most exciting contributions is to the Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO), one of the world’s largest radio astronomy projects. Partnering with Italian antenna manufacturer SIRIO, Kasdon is producing 180,000 custom PCB assemblies for the SKA-Low antennas, deployed in Western Australia.

These assemblies are critical to the telescope’s mission to capture radio waves that have travelled for billions of years across the Universe. At the heart of each board are highly sensitive low-noise amplifiers, two of which are mounted on the top of every antenna, to capture and boost faint cosmic signals for further processing.

The scale of the project demands flawless repeatability and exceptional quality control across the entire production run. Kasdon’s proven processes ensure that each assembly performs at the highest level, enabling scientists to study the Universe in unprecedented detail.

Proud to contribute to discovery

Our involvement in SKA-Low has not only been a technical achievement but also a privilege, offering us the chance to support one of humanity’s most ambitious scientific endeavours. Being invited by the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council to the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition underscored the importance of this work and allowed us to celebrate the progress with the wider scientific community.

At Kasdon, we are proud to help turn bold research concepts into working technology, empowering breakthroughs that expand human knowledge.
